Background of the Founder

  • Lawyer licensed in the state of Maine with a practice focus on computer/Internet law, intellectual property, and business law. 
  • Information security, computer law and ethics Adjunct Professor at the University of Southern Maine's computer science department since 2004. 
  • Presenter at Black Hat USA, DEFCON, Hacking at Random, Hackers on Planet Earth, and SecTor computer security conferences.
  • Student at Oxford University and studied with Dr. Cooke, Ethics Adviser to the Queen and with best-selling author and evolutionary biologist, Dr. Richard Dawkins.
  • Graduated with Honors and double majors from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
  • Recipient of an Anderson Consulting grant for epidemiological independent research in South American rain forests while an undergraduate.
  • Attended Franklin Pierce Law School, Concord, New Hampshire (ranked #2 in USA for intellectual property law studies by US World News, 2006) for half of law school including one semester at Tsinghua School of Law, Beijing, China.
  • Received an Honors grade for a semester internship at the Maine Patent Program through the University of Maine School Of Law.
  • Graduated with Honors grades from St. John’s College, Annapolis, Maryland with a Masters in classical literature and philosophy.
  • Graduated with Honors from the University of Phoenix School of Business— began online MBA degree while in law school.

Corporate Time Line

2000

ELCnetworks was founded in Portland, Maine by Tiffany Strauchs Rad. The primary objective is to advise startup tech companies.

2001

Tiffany Strauchs Rad was the recipient of Maine Law’s Entrepreneur Scholarship in 2002 for one law student pursuing business interests in addition to legal studies. Tiffany spent the summer building the company, writing a business plan, and preparing for a venture capital business plan competition at Harvard and MIT Business Schools’ Springboard venture capital competition in which she made the first round of selection.

Fall 2008

ELCnetworks will expand to a new office in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
